Understanding Intelligence

Part One or Two

Maya Angelou said “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.”

We are always learning and searching for better ways to do things. Be it a better way to think, or finding more information to help us come to a decision about a particular issue, we as humans are naturally curious. When we make a mistake, we learn from it. When we have questions, we ask people who will know the answer. When that doesn't work – we turn to Google, Facebook, Twitter, Quora, Reddit and beyond. The problem is, we are suffering from too MUCH information. We are surrounded by so much Internet spam and noise that it’s sometimes hard to get the information that is pertinent to your daily life.

Not even scientists can agree on what intelligence actually is. But regardless of the exact definition of “intelligence,” many of us are driven to boost it. We are curious by nature. With the vast amount of information publicly available on the internet, it can be hard to sift through all of that material to find the information that can really help us and satisfy our curiosity. How many of us have sat down to research something only to find yourself down a rabbit hole on BuzzFeed (which has some great content – but if you’re interested in things like “black holes” or “how to tune my guitar,” it’s not the right place for you).  And how often do you get information from the sources you truly trust? There are hordes of “facts” clogging the internet, and filtering through them to find out what you’re looking for is daunting.

While this blog is a platform for VISVA and our cutting-edge service, it’s also about understanding human behavior and how people consume content and bringing only “of-interest” content to people. We don’t follow rabbit holes. In fact, we stand firmly on the “Anti-Rabbit-Hole” Platform!

We often follow our curiosity to satisfy our intelligence. And it’s our goal to create an environment to do just that. Check back next week for some tips for boosting your intelligence.
